participants from various discrete manufacturing sectors engaged
in a discussion about the potential of achieving Lean
Manufacturing with the MES HYDRA. After a detailed introduction of
the worldwide MPDV Group with its more than 30 years old success
story, the seminar kicked off with some challenging reviews of the
classic unit-cost-approach in basic accounting, and how the
enormous existing process potential is often being ignored in this
context.
Subsequently, MPDV has
demonstrated how to tap into this existing process potential - in
other words, how to eliminate wastages along the multi-operational
process chain - to increase production efficiency.
In order to achieve
Lean Manufacturing, it is not just enough to eliminate existing
wastages, but also to make sure that new wastages will not occur
anymore - and if they happen anyway, how to swiftly react to them
immediately when they occur. This brought the seminar to a new
focus point of "Throughput Control & Shop Floor Planning". As a
result, a completely closed control loop was created on the basis of the MES HYDRA, commonly known as the
PDMA- circle: Plan - Do - Measure - Act.
The MES HYDRA - in
connection with any ERP system on the higher tier business
platform - was positioned as the strategic information management
tool to engage in this PDMA control process in the process areas
of Production, Quality and Personnel. MPDV demonstrated during the
seminar, how each of the control steps (P - D - M - A) kicks into
action with the MES HYDRA - on office level as well as on shop
floor level including direct machine connection.
In its conclusion, the
seminar was rounded up with a Q&A session that covered all aspects
from Lean Manufacturing Theories, via HYDRA Functionalities and
typical SOP's, as well as ROI considerations and budget questions.
